ACT No. \111 of 1980

AN ACT further to amend the Hotels and Catering Establishments Act,

1967. BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and

consent of the HOllse of Rcpresent3tives, in this present Parliament

assembled, and by the authority of the same, as fol1O'.,vs:-

This Act may be cited as the Hotels and Catering Establish­

ments (Amen.J.i11cnt) A.ct, 1980, and shall be read and c on s true d as one

with the Hote1s and Catering Establishments Act, J 967, hereinafter

referred to as "the principal Act".

Section 4- of tbe principal Act shall be amended as foBows

in subsection (3) thereof, i mmed i ate1y after the words "if

(a)

Board deems fit," there shall be inserted the words "and

the

subject to the approva1 of the M iniste r , ; and

"

(b) in subsection (4) thereof, for the words f ive pounds and

"

not more than fifty pounds" there shall be substituted the words

"fifty pounds and not more than two hundred p o u nd s

".

Subsection (3) of Section 9 of the prncipal Act s ha1 1 be amended

as follows

(a) af t er the word "classification" there shaB be inserted the

word s "or as offering particular amenities of services,";

for the words ten p o unds and not more than one hun­

(b)

dred po u nds there shall be substituted the words "two hundred

p ou nds and not more than five hundred p o unds"

.

Subsection (3) of section

13 of the principal Act shall be

amended as follo w s

(a) in paragraph (a) thereof, for the words "fine (ammenda)

not exceeding ten pounds" there shall be substituted the words "fine

(multa) of not less than one hundred pounds and not more than

three hundred pounds"; and

(b) in paragraph (b) thereof, for the words "fine <ammenda)

not exceeding ten pounds" there shal1 be substituted the words "fine

(multa) not exceeding thirty pounds".

Section 14 of the principal Act shaH be amended as foHows
