ACT No. XIV of 1981

AN ACT further to amend the Code of Police Laws, Cap.13.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and

consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliarnent

assembled, and by the authority of the same, as fol1ows:-

This Act may be cited as the Code of Police Laws (Amend­

ment) Act, 1981, and shall be read and construed as one with the Code

of Police Laws, hereinafter referred to as "the principal law".

Section 13 of the principal law shall be amended as follows

(a)

immediately af,ter paragraph (v) of subsection (6) thereof

there shall be inserted the following new paragraph

"(vA) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-para­

graph (a) of

paragraph

(i)

of this

subsection,

the

contribution payable in respect of the formation of the street

by an owner of any plot of land acquired from the Housing

Authority under the Home Ownership Scheme after the 27th

of September, 1979, shall be equal to the cost of asphalting the

street; and in assessing such contribution no account shall be

taken of the value of the land required for the formation of

such street, and of the cost of asphalting that part of the

street which exceeds thirty-four feet in width where the

street is bui1t up on both sides, or of that part of the street

which exceeds seventeen feet in width where the street is built

up on one side only."; and

(b) immediately after subsection (8) there of there shall be

inserted the fOllowing proviso

"Provided that the owner of any plot of land acquired

from the Housing Authority under the Home Ownership

Scheme after the 27th September, 1979, shall be exempt from

the obligation of levelling the street and putting it in a proper

state as regards its drainage.".
