Fees Ordinance under Foreigners Law
(of 7 January 2011)1,2
The Security Directorate,
based on the Ordinance of the Federal Council on Fees under the
Foreign Nationals and Integration Act of 24 October 2007 (GebV-AIG17)8
as well as on the Cantonal Fees Ordinance for Administrative
Authorities of 30 June 19665,
decrees
1. General Provisions
1.1
Levy of Fees
A fee must be paid by anyone who requests a service.
Only the fees listed below may be levied.
1.217 Fees for Refusals
The fees for refusals and for proceedings that are closed as
moot or resolved by non-admission correspond to those for
granted permits. They include, in particular, the fees for the
granting, issuance, and delivery of permits, as well as those
for the collection and recording of data for the foreign national's
identity card. These are offset against the advance payment to
be collected according to section 1.8. This also applies to visa
fees (section 5.6).
1.317 Third-Party Liability
1.4
1.5
Persons who have submitted an application for the foreign
national are jointly and severally liable with them for the payment
of fees. Mandated legal representatives are exempt from this
liability.
Individual Fee
The fee rates apply to individuals. Each family member is
considered an individual.
Group Fee
For decisions and services initiated jointly by more than twelve
persons, a group fee shall be levied. It shall not exceed the sum of
twelve individual fees.

1 Expenses are costs that are additionally incurred for a specific
service, namely
1.6.117 Fees for experts, for the certificate of a trusted medical
practitioner, for medical opinions and treatments, as well as
for interpreters and translations;

register extracts, photocopies, and other documents;
1.6.3 Costs for inquiries abroad;
1.6.417 Postage and telephone costs;
1.6.5 Costs for work performed by third parties.
2 These costs are charged in addition to the fee, unless
expressly stipulated otherwise.
1.7 Due Date
1 Fees and expenses become due
1.7.1 upon notification to the obligated party;
1.7.2 in case of an appeal, upon the legal finality of the decision
of the last instance.
2 The payment period is 30 days from the invoice date or from
the legal finality of the decision of the last instance.
1.814 Collection
Fees and expenses for a permit are generally collected in
advance. For other official acts subject to charges, they are
collected by invoice. In justified cases (domicile/seat abroad,

an advance payment may be required.
