1. This law regulates the implementation in cantonal law of the Federal Act of June 18, 2004, on the Registered Partnership between Persons of the Same Sex [A].
2. Subject to Article 4 of this law, cantonal law is amended to achieve, within the limits set by federal law, equality between married persons and those in a registered partnership.
1. Registered partners are treated as spouses in all cases where cantonal law provides rights or imposes obligations with respect to this category of persons.
1. The procedure for registering a partnership is governed by civil status legislation [C].
1. Municipalities adapt their regulations no later than January 1, 2009.
1. This law shall enter into force on January 1, 2007.
1. The Council of State is responsible for the execution of this law. It shall publish the text in accordance with article 84, paragraph 1, letter a) of the Cantonal Constitution and shall bring it into force, by way of decree, in accordance with article 6 above.
