§ 16 Introductory Act to the Swiss Civil Code (EGZGB) - Supervision and Legal Protection

1. The Department of Justice and Security is the cantonal supervisory authority in matters of civil status.

2. It decides on appeals against civil registry offices.

3. Appeals against decisions of the Department of Justice and Security can be lodged with the Cantonal Court through an administrative court appeal (§§ 156 et seq. VRG). The Cantonal Court also has the authority for discretionary review.
