Kanton Glarus (LPEV)

Subject Matter

1 This Ordinance governs the classification of teaching staff functions into salary bands, as well as the remuneration for teaching activities without sufficient training.

Scope of Application

1 This Ordinance applies to cantonal schools and to private schools with public functions pursuant to Article 8 of the Education Act.

Function Evaluation and Salary Band Assignment

1 Based on a function evaluation, each function is assigned to a teaching staff salary band.

Assignment of Function

1 Teachers are assigned to the function in which they teach.

Supplement to Classification

1 In addition to the assignment to a function, the classification into a teacher salary band can be linked with a deduction or a supplement.

Discount for Lack of Recognized Qualification

1 A teacher without a recognized, level-appropriate qualification will be remunerated

with a discount of at least seven percent of the salary designated for the position, if they

a. have completed at least a university degree; or

b. have largely completed the pedagogical studies that lead to teaching qualification

in the subject area taught.

Sports School

1 The teaching staff of the sports school are assigned to the function of secondary school teacher.

Bridging Courses (GBA)

1 Teachers who teach in the GBA/Integration area are assigned to the function of secondary school teacher if they exclusively teach.

2 If they also take on supervision and coaching functions, they are assigned to the "GBA/I Teacher" function.

Vocational Schools

1 The functions of teachers at vocational schools are categorized as follows

a. Vocational Baccalaureate Instruction: Teacher Salary Band 3;

b. Instruction at a Higher Technical College (HF): Teacher Salary Band 3;

c. Full-time Instruction: Teacher Salary Band 2;

d. Part-time Instruction with parallel professional activity: Teacher Salary Band 2.

Canton School

1 Teachers at the Canton School are placed in the third teacher salary band.

School Special Education Teachers (SSET)

1 School special education teachers are assigned to the function of secondary school teachers, regardless of the level of their activity.

Acquired Rights

1 If, at the time of entry into force of this Ordinance, a teacher's salary exceeds the maximum of the salary band, the acquired rights shall be preserved.

2 Salary increases are only possible then and only to the extent that the maximum is not exceeded.
