Agreement between the Cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft concerning the Alteration of the Boundary in the Area of St. Jakobs-Strasse, Brüglingerstrasse, and Münchensteinerstrasse

1. The existing cantonal boundary between Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft is adjusted in accordance with the delineation in the boundary regulation plan dated February 12, 1974, which is signed by the cantonal surveyors of both cantons.

2. Accordingly, areas of equal size from each of the two cantonal territories are exchanged with one another.

From the territory of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, the area I, highlighted in red on the regulation plan, measuring 6,723 m², is ceded and incorporated into the territory of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft. It is part of parcel 420(6) Section V of the land register of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. The owner is the municipal community of the City of Basel.

1. From the territory of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft, as well as from the territory of the municipality of Münchenstein, the areas highlighted in yellow in the regulation plan, Areas II and III, measuring 1,162 m² and 5,561 m² respectively, a total of 6,723 m², are ceded and incorporated into the territory of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Area II, located on Brüglingerstrasse, is comprised of sub-areas from the following parcels of the land register of the municipality of Münchenstein: 182 m² of parcel No. 5, owned by the Christoph Merian Foundation, Basel; 29 m² of parcel No. 2, Bachallmend, owned by the Municipality of the City of Basel; 951 m² of parcel No. 2778, owned by the Municipality of the City of Basel.

2. Area III, located on Münchensteinerstrasse / Emil Frey-Strasse, is comprised of the sub-areas of the following parcels from the land register of the municipality of Münchenstein: 4,509 m² of parcel No. 3386, owned by the real estate company of Agence Américaine Automobiles SA, a corporation based in Basel; 417 m² of parcel No. 9, owned by the Swiss Federal Railways, Bern; 586 m² of parcel No. 1724, owned by the Canton of Basel-Stadt; 49 m² of parcel No. 12, owned by the Christoph Merian Foundation.

1. The new course of the cantonal border is defined by the specified measurements noted on the plan and the coordinates calculated from them.

2. The staking out and marking of the new boundary points shall be carried out by the Survey Office of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. The mutation and marking costs shall be borne equally by both cantons.

1. The agreement and the corresponding cantonal boundary regulation plan shall be executed in ten copies each.

2. One copy shall be transmitted to the Swiss Federal Council for acknowledgment.

3. The agreement shall enter into force immediately.
