Oath of Office Act - Concerning the Oath
Statutory Text (2 Provisions)
1. The True Oath, which is intended to preserve and enhance law and good order in the country, is a solemn invocation of God, that He may be the witness and judge of my sincere pledge.
2. Whoever, in his heart, rejects what he confesses with his mouth, swears a false oath and thus deceives not only himself and his fellow men but also Almighty God.
3. From this, everyone may recognize what a true oath is and intends, and what it means to swear a false or frivolous oath.
4. May God grant us the strength to keep our pledge faithfully and honestly; may He protect and bless the land and the people forever and ever. Amen.
1. The newly elected council and court officials shall swear or affirm: To faithfully and conscientiously act and judge in all matters assigned to them by the constitution and according to the laws of the land, and to protect and safeguard the rights of every individual, without regard to their person. However, to ensure that everyone may freely and openly express their opinions according to their conscience, they further swear: to refrain from making any statements about council and court proceedings that could cause detriment and harm to the country or expose individuals to envy and hatred due to their expressed opinions.
2. The oaths mentioned above shall be sworn in the following formula
"I have well understood what has been read to me; I will hold it true and steadfast, faithfully and without any danger, as truly as I wish and pray that God helps me."
3. The vow shall be made with the words: "I affirm it."
