1. The internship lasts at least three months and generally does not exceed the minimum duration as per § 2 of the Lawyer Ordinance (AnwV) of May 18, 2005.
2. The first three months are considered as the introductory period, during which the internship relationship may be terminated by either party at the end of the following week.
3. After the introductory period, the internship relationship may be terminated by either party at the end of the following month.
4. The immediate termination of the internship relationship for important reasons remains reserved.

1. After the completion of the introductory period, the appointing authority may promote the trainee to an independent legal intern.
2. Before the completion of the introductory period, promotion to an independent legal intern is only possible with the approval of the Secretary-General. Such approval requires a good performance assessment.

1. The monthly remuneration of legal trainees shall be determined according to the Ordinance on the Salaries of Special Wage Categories dated September 19, 2001 (Annex III, Figure 5).

1. Courts may allow law students to gain insight into court practice without remuneration and permit them to be present during deliberations. The students must be reported to the General Secretariat of Justice. They are to be informed of their duty of confidentiality, but are otherwise not subject to these regulations.
1. This regulation shall enter into force on January 1, 2013.
