Ordinance on the fees and special charges of the motor vehicle control office - Jurisdiction

1. The Motor Vehicle Control is responsible for the collection of fees in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Tax Act as well as the special levies pursuant to § 14 of the Basel-Landschaft Road Traffic Act (SVG BL) dated May 3, 2012.

1. The fees are as follows for

a. * Vehicle registration certificates for all categories: CHF 45;

b. * Vehicle registration certificates for substitute vehicles: CHF 45;

c. * Vehicle registration certificates for motorized bicycles (including license plate): CHF 35;

d. * Day passes (excluding insurance premium): CHF 55;

e. * Duplicates of a vehicle registration certificate: CHF 30;

f. * Duplicates of a vehicle registration certificate for motorized bicycles: CHF 30.

1. The fees and special charges for the transfer of license plates are as follows

a. * the temporary issuance of individual license plates for motor vehicles, motorcycles, small motorcycles, agricultural vehicles, and trailers: CHF 30.-;

b. * the temporary issuance of a pair of license plates for motor vehicles: CHF 35.-;

c. * the sale of individual temporary license plates for motor vehicles, motorcycles, small motorcycles, agricultural vehicles, and trailers: CHF 35.-;

d. * the sale of a pair of temporary license plates: CHF 55.-;

e. * the revalidation of deposited license plates (per plate): CHF 20.-;

ebis. * the revalidation of license plates that were deposited between March 16, 2020, and the end of the special or extraordinary situation as defined by the Epidemics Act and are redeemed within 1 year of its conclusion: CHF 0.- (free of charge);

f. * the extension of the deposit period for license plates by an additional year: CHF 40.-;

g. * the reservation of series of license plates (per year and per plate): CHF 40.-;

h. * the issuance of found license plates (per plate): CHF 40.-;

i. * the transfer of license plates (special charge according to § 14 of the Road Traffic Act Basel-Landschaft of May 3, 2012): CHF 140.-;

j. * the transfer of moped plates: CHF 40.-;

k. * the order for the police withdrawal of license plates (without special effort): CHF 330.-.

1. The special fees according to § 14 of the Basel-Landschaft Road Traffic Act of May 3, 2012, are as follows

a. Motor vehicles

1. * BL 1 - 9: CHF 4,000;

2. * BL 10 - 99: CHF 3,000;

3. * BL 100 - 999: CHF 2,000;

4. * BL 1,000 - 9,999: CHF 1,000;

5. * BL 10,000 - 99,999: CHF 240;

6. * Allocation of 6-digit personalized license plates: CHF 200.

b. Motorcycles

1. * BL 1 - 9: CHF 2,000;

2. * BL 10 - 99: CHF 1,500;

3. * BL 100 - 999: CHF 500;

4. * BL 1,000 - 9,999: CHF 200;

5. * Allocation of a 5-digit personalized license plate: CHF 200.

2. The rates according to paragraph 1 include the fees for the vehicle registration document and the license plates.

3. The rates according to paragraph 1 are subject to the reservation of an auction of the license plates.

**1. The fees are as follows:**

a. * for the initial issuance of a collective vehicle registration certificate: CHF 320.-;

b. * for the issuance of a second or additional collective vehicle registration certificate: CHF 110.-;

c. * for the approval of yellow hazard lights: CHF 40.-;

d. * for the approval of blue hazard lights and an alternating tone horn: CHF 40.-.

1. Additional fees apply for

a. * General replacement vehicle permits: CHF 40;

b. * Amendments and supplements in the vehicle registration document: CHF 30;

c. * Change of insurance: CHF 30;

i. * The provision of written information upon request from the vehicle registration document: CHF 30.

b. * Duplicates of a learner's permit: CHF 25.-;

c. * Amendments and additions to learner's permits: CHF 25.-.

w. * Parcel delivery up to 1000 grams: CHF 15.-;

x. * Parcel delivery via registered mail: according to expenses;

y. * Incidental special fees for delivery, e.g., express: according to expenses;

z. * Verification and confirmation of personal details related to the application processing for learning or driver’s licenses: CHF 10.-.

2. A deposit of up to CHF 500.- may be required for the issuance of daily passes.

3. The costs for medical, psychological, and other examinations are borne by the license applicant or holder.

1. Fees Based on Effort are Charged for

a. a large number of photocopies,

b. special effort for the police confiscation of license plates,

c. insurance premiums,

d. * special services of the motor vehicle control.

2. For further billing, an hourly rate of CHF 160 is applicable.

1. Authority for Fee Waivers

a. Up to CHF 5,000 - the Motor Vehicle Control;

b. From CHF 5,001 - the Government Council.

1. The Ordinance of March 18, 2003, on the Fees of Motor Vehicle Inspection is repealed.

1. This Regulation shall enter into force on January 1, 2005.
