The Federal Administrative Court (BVerwG) granted leave to appeal in a revision proceeding, admitting the case due to its fundamental legal significance. The dispute concerns the requirements for conducting a trustworthiness review under the German Weapons Act, specifically whether such a review is mandatory for a holder of an annual hunting license when the check is conducted without a personal cause of suspicion and only approximately two years have passed since the last regular review. The decisive legal basis involves the interpretation of §§ 4 Abs. 3 WaffG and § 17 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BJagdG, focusing on whether a prior issuance or extension of an annual hunting license, which itself presupposes a trustworthiness check, obviates the need for a separate, subsequent trustworthiness review under the Weapons Act.
