ACT No. XV of 1981
AN ACT further to amend the Traffie Regulation Ordinanee, Capo 105.
BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice ana
consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliament
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
(1) This Act may be cited as the Traffic Regulation (Amend
ment) Act, 1981, and shall be read and construed as one with
the Traffic Regulation Ordinance, hereinafter referred to as "the prin
cipal law".
This Act shall come into force fourteen days
after its

Section 17 of the principal law

(a) in subsection ( l ) tbereof, for the words "two pounds"
there shall be substituted the words "five pounds";
(b) for the proviso to subsection ( 1 ) thereof there shall be
substituted the fol1owing
"Provided that, in the case of an offence set out in the
first column of the First Schedule to this Ordinance, the
punishment awardable shall be that shown in the second
column thereof and. in the case of an offence set out in the
first column of the Second Schedule to this Ordinance, the
punishment awardable shall in no case be less than the relative
fine shown in the second column thereof."; and
subsection (3) thereof shall be amended as follows
(c)
(i) for the words "of the Schedule" there shall be sub
stituted the words "of the Second Schedule"; and
(ii) immediately at the end thereof there shall be added
the following proviso;
"Provided that in the case of a self-drive car the
owner thereof sha11 be responsible for the offence unless
the relative fine has been paid.".
Section 21 of the principallaw shall be amended as fol1ows
(a) for the words "of the Schedule" in subsection ( l ) thereof,
there shall be substituted the words "of the Second Schedule", and
(b) for the words "five pounds" in subsection
thereof

there shall be substituted the words "twenty pounds".
