§ 42 Constitution of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, (2005) Citizens exercise their right to vote in their municipality of residence. Exceptions are provided for by law. Persons of Swiss nationality obtain the right to vote on cantonal and municipal matters in the municipal community in which they are established.

Das Stimmrecht wird am politischen Wohnsitz ausgeübt. Ausnahmen bestimmt das Gesetz.
Wer das Schweizerbürgerrecht besitzt, erwirbt mit der Niederlassung das Stimmrecht in Angelegenheiten des Kantons und der jeweiligen Einwohnergemeinde.
