§ 15 Constitution of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, (2005) The State fulfills its duties based on the needs of the population, with the objective of ensuring their prosperity. It acts in respect of each individual's dignity, personality, and responsibility. It endeavors to preserve natural resources and to work toward sustainable development that meets the needs of the current generations without jeopardizing the ecological, economic, and social heritage of future generations, nor depriving them of the choice of their own lifestyle. It contributes, within the limits of its capabilities, to ensuring that global warming does not exceed 1.5° C above pre-industrial levels. It ensures to guarantee equal opportunities and promotes cultural diversity, integration, and equality of rights within the population and economic prosperity.
§ 15 2005
Der Staat orientiert sich bei der Erfüllung seiner Aufgaben an den Bedürfnissen und am Wohlergehen der Bevölkerung. Er berücksichtigt dabei die Würde, die Persönlichkeit und die Eigenverantwortung des einzelnen Menschen.
Er wirkt auf die Erhaltung der natürlichen Lebensgrundlagen und auf eine nachhaltige Entwicklung hin, die den Bedürfnissen der gegenwärtigen Generation entspricht, aber zugleich die ökologischen, wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Bedürfnisse künftiger Generationen und ihre Möglichkeiten nicht gefährdet, ihre eigene Lebensweise zu wählen. Er trägt nach seinen Möglichkeiten dazu bei, dass die globale Erwärmung gegenüber dem vorindustriellen Niveau 1,5° C nicht übersteigt.
Er sorgt für Chancengleichheit und fördert die kulturelle Vielfalt, die Integration und die Gleichberechtigung in der Bevölkerung sowie die wirtschaftliche Entfaltung.
