§ 102 Constitution of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, (2005) The President of the Government presides over the Council of State for the duration of a legislature. He directs, plans, and coordinates the activities of the Council of State in his capacity as a collegiate authority and represents it both internally and externally.

Der Regierungspräsident oder die Regierungspräsidentin führt den Vorsitz im Regierungsrat für die Dauer einer Amtsperiode.
Er oder sie leitet, plant und koordiniert die Amtstätigkeit des Regierungsrates als Kollegialbehörde und vertritt ihn nach innen und aussen.
